Why it is important to ensure proper installation guidelines are specified for storm drain products and followed in the field.
The following are major installation requirements that are not being followed in the video which increase the level of risk to the owner, contractor and engineer.
- No 4 inch to 6 inch compacted lifts per Manufacturer’s Installation Guide
- No knifing of backfill material under the haunches of the pipe, or between the corrugations per Manufacture’s Installation Guide
- No compaction equipment used (pipe can be seen shifting off alignment due to uncompacted backfill and force of dumped backfill material)
- No equipment for density checks
